WU Guanzhong, one of the iconic figures in modern Chinese art of the 20th century. His innovative use of colour-ink painting set him apart. Initially trained in traditional ink painting, he later delved into the colourful world of oil painting. In his later years, he returned to black & white art in various forms, continuously seeking a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western artistic traditions. Let’s explore the artist’s distinctive color aesthetics and appreciate the boundless passion and imagination that arise between black and white. The study content includes but is not limited to: 1. Exploring the Aesthetics of Chinese Traditional Art: By delving into the details, appreciate the profound meaning behind ink and wash painting. 2. Investigating the Unique Monochromatic Beauty: Examine how artist use shades of black, white, and gray to convey a distinctive aesthetic in the works. 3. East-West Aesthetic Fusion: Through games and intriguing historical stories, explore the trajectory of artistic exploration where East meets West. Discover characteristics of Impressionism and Abstract Art. 4. Reflecting: Engage in speculative discussions to understand the impact, challenges, and attempts faced by Chinese traditional aesthetics in the modern era. 5. Creating a Three-Dimensional Mixed-Media Artwork: Participants will have the opportunity to craft a mixed-media art piece. Date: May 25, June 15 (SAT.) CANCELATION POLICY
1. Enrollment on a "first come, first served" basis. To secure your place you have to pay the full program fee. 2. Cancellation: 70% of the program fee will be refunded for cancellations made 1 week before scheduled program starts. If any participant is absent or drops out for personal reasons, we do not offer any make up classes, and program fee will not be refunded on pro-rata basis. For a participant who unable to attend for medical reasons will need to provide a valid medical certificate, we will offer a voucher to attend an upcoming program of the same value, subject to availability, within six months of the cancellation date. 3. Postponement: Changes to your registration can be requested up to 48 hours in advance of the program date - dependent on the availability of openings in the alternative programs. No changes are possible within 48 hours, and an administrative fee of HKD100 will be charged for any changes permitted. 4. If the number of applicants is insufficient, the course will be canceled and the applicant will be refunded. 5. In case of cancellation due to inclement weather, participants will be provided with a voucher equivalent to the paid amount on pro-rata basis, valid for 6 months.
